rub-a-dub-dub

look at this monkey butler taking a bath!! super cute.

sweet date spot

this would be so unbelievably precious if someone set this up for me. i'm a huge lover of christmas lights, skylines and dates. plus, the mexican blanket used as a tablecloth really gets me--i loveeeee mexican food. it looks like a cheap date too, which is always a plus in a bear market. : )

smileys

have you seen the american express smiley face commerical? i love it.

show me what you got

haha. it's like arkansas meets vegas. kind of.

ewwww

some danish man tried to smuggle 24 baby pythons and 10 geckos across the norwegian border. they were in stockings and taped to his body. so incredibly foul and completely cringe-worthy. ewwwwww

redneck police reports

i put up a post a couple of weeks ago with an excerpt from my town's daily newsletter. the editors at the newspaper thought it would be a good idea to print some of the calls that come in to the police department. after reading some of these gems, i couldn't agree more.

some of my faves:

300 block of CR 1646 - A man claimed he was going to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head. When he checked to see if the gun was loaded, he accidentally shot himself in the left foot. He was transported to Wise Regional Health System in Decatur.

3200 block of U.S. 287 N - Two neighbors were having a verbal dispute. One of them jumped into his pickup, did a donut in his own yard and slung mud across the fence and onto his neighbor. No charges were filed.

1300 block of CR 4280 - A woman's son came to her house and caused a "ruckus."

1500 block of Rogers Road - A man reported that a subject named Tyrone had called him numerous times. The man said he does not know a Tyrone.

wow

"Stephen Wiltshire, a British artist who has autism, is drawing a twenty-foot-long panorama of the New York City skyline entirely from memory, after taking just one twenty-minute helicopter ride while visiting the city." (via Daily Intel)

it's rainy

i guess i'm only finding cute animals to blog about today. i think it's due to the rain and icky weather we're having in the city. this chubbs doesn't look to happy, but i'm sure he was just napping and the squirrel woke him up. at least that's always my reaction...

pandas put to music

pandas are just too cute. this video is precious.

hump day = free plane drink

delta airlines has some weird new partnership with madison square garden, and to celebrate this new venture, they were giving out scratch-offs at the stock exchange. no one won any of the listed prizes such as a free flight, free tickets to an event, etc. however, everyone won a free drink on their next delta flight. awesome. too bad i'm an american airlines snob.

ps. how cute does eli manning look on my cube wall? pretty cute.

should have been #1

5. the leg humper--
"you'll know you're in the presence of one of these bottom-feeders by the way you become invisible the second there is a guy in the vicinity."

the frisky put out a list of the 5 friends you don't need. although this friend came in at #5, i know most girls would agree it should have been #1. check out the rest of the list here. what do you think?

the story of us

i can't wait to see this movie. i feel like it will perfectly encapsulate our lives here in the city. and you know what, new york?
 i do love you.

sad sad day

the pappas brothers just announced that they will be closing all the luby's restaurants in the dfw area. everyone hates on luby's for thinking its a feeding ground for old people, but really, it was my nana and i's favorite place to go. i mean, look how good this chicken fried steak looks! just so sad.

short and sweet

jay-z gave these exact two options in "Public Service Announcement." i couldn't agree more.

relationships + twitter

there is a new site, relatious, that links your facebook or twitter to a site that allows you to publicly talk about your relationship woes. you anonymously post your question or problem and anyone can comment on how the situation should be handled. i think my friends and i should give each other a break and let strangers go to work on our relationship problems. sounds good to me.

OU-texas Weekend!!!!!!

this is the greatest game of the season for OU and texas fans. right now, all of our friends are running around dallas acting like freshman, which makes my friends and i here in the city, very jealous. to get in the spirit i've posted my favorite part of the pre-game events, the intro video.

game time: 12pm on abc. BOOMER SOONER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my heart just melted

oh.my.goodness. i just had a cuteness heart attack at my desk. the only way this picture would be more precious is if WALL_E were in it. soo sweet.

old school interpretation

one thing you should know about me, i freakin' loveeeeeeeee jay-z. that's all.

snazzy pumpkins

not cool

i hate to say this, but i did this exact same thing in college. but not on purpose like this punk. well, maybe i did drive slightly closer to the curb than normal...but this guy's target puddle was wayyy bigger than mine. oops!

my new favorite song

i was reading my friend margaret's blog, bathtub gin, when i came across a bon iver video, that eventually led to this song. i love this line:
"what made you think your boy could become the man who could make sure that he was the one."

tgif

coffee and bagels are the perfect way to start a cold, rainy, friday at work. this guy looks like he's enjoying himself as well. tgif!!

happy birthday nana!!!

today was my sweet nana's birthday! she travels all over the world and is usually gone 8 months a year and now that i live in new york, i really never get to see her--this is a picture from her birthday dinner tonight. thank goodness for camera phones! she looks so pretty and happy--love you nana!!

it's been a long, rainy day

last week it was fall outside. this week it became winter-ish with rain and cold weather. it's currently 40 degrees! this is what it looks like to be on wall street on a rainy day. looks fun, right?

meghan mccain: twitpic fail

meghan mccain posted this picture on her twitter page last night. she claims that she was just trying to take a 'fun' picture about being a 'dork' and staying in for the night. yeah, ok.

uh-oh, there's a kid flying around

supposedly, there was a 6-year-old kid flying around colorado at 7,000 ft in a homeade balloon his seemingly crazy parents made in their backyard. now the balloon has landed and, surprise, there is no kid in the balloon. where is he??

future music video girl

hell yes

garth brooks just announced that he's coming out of retirement. he'll begin with an extended vegas show. i'm so there. it looks like he ain't goin' down 'til the sun comes up. wooooo.

Leo: You feel like romance has dried up around the edges. You're tempted to soak it up in alcohol. Don't.

hometown events

excerpt from our daily newsletter:

TEXAS NIGHT OUT - The sheriff's department is holding a Texas Night Out from 6-9 tonight at the Decatur Civic Center. Fire and police departments and civic organizations from throughout the county will be on hand. There will be face painting, games and refreshments

texas celebration? face painting and games? hosted by our really good looking sheriff? i'm going to need a flight home asap.

wooo skating!!

last year, i went on an entire christmas-themed date that, among other things, involved ice skating, of course. today, rockefeller center opened their rink--officially starting the winter season! i'm so excited to go--but only after it starts snowing, duh.

everyone can thank my gingy friend seagren for this precious video. thanks seags!!

costume: purchased

i decided to be an indian this year. all i need is a feather headdress and tomahawk, obviously. my daddy would be so proud of me. he talks about indians non-stop. hopefully no one gets scalped.

nancy grace smackdown

i love this. he's such an outrageous tool.

i love weddings!

jim and pam's wedding last night on the office? too freakin' precious for words. i love jim.

the nobel committee is on crack

well today has been pretty hellish so far since someone decided to get sick and ruin the commute for everyone on the 4/5 train above 14th street today. 50 minutes underground? absurd. you can imagine how annoying it was. i was ready to start fresh and re-excite myself that the weekend was only 9 hours away, but that was also a fail. let me preface this by saying that i try not to bring up my distaste for obama on this blog, but today is an exception. in case you missed it, obama won the 2009 nobel peace prize. i know, i know, wtf, right?? it's ok, the committee awarded him for really legit reasons:

"to encourage his initiatives on reducing nuclear arms, easing tension in the muslim world, and stress diplomacy..."

instead of giving him the peace prize for thinking of doing those things, like almost every president does, why not reward him when we see tangible evidence and results of these average presidential thoughts? obama's reaction: humbled. of course he's humbled, he didn't have to do anything to win! i'm sure there were other candidates more worthy of the prize. the end.

mail timeeee

since i went to summer camp for 10 years with no electronics or electricity, the mail arriving at 1pm was the highlight of my day. so now, anytime i get mail, especially packages, i automatically sing the mail song...from blue's clues, of course.

"here's the mail, it never fails. it makes me want to wag my tail. and when it come i want to wail, 'MAILLL!!!!'"

today, i was a happy camper because look what arrived at my office:

there are lots of police in the subways these days. i'm hoping they won't arrest me for carrying this home. it's so big!! i wonder what's in it?? woooo...

walk the walk

these monsterous shoes were part of the alexander mcqueen show in Paris recently. i can't even walk solidly in flats or normal heels, for that matter. congrats to chick who made it down the runway in one piece. bravo girlfriend, bravo.

monster mash

my friend halley at it's like alley with an h, made this jib-jab video of our friends. i think it's really funny, and so festive!

man sorter

despite all the bad publicity the Pill gets about supposedly causing cancer or whatever, there was some good news that came out today about the unmarried-girl's bff. according to a recent british study, the Pill causes women to alter their selection process for men. the study claims that by taking the Pill, you are better able to "seek men who look like long-term prospects" while those not on the Pill tend to "lust after the hottest guy in the room." don't believe me? read it for yourself here.

ps. this is the second post about british people and things. they're really doin' work over there.

this little piggy...

how precious are these teacup piggies? right now, british people are gobbling up these little pigs for $1,100 each. one breeder claims that 'the more you rub their belly, the more they'll love you." i'm pretty sure i know a few people that rule would be applicable to too. soo cute.

according to msn.com, the recession-no-more party has officially started. as you can tell from the picture, people are starting to make it rain in all the right places. except for hustler, maybe.
