dummy

a guy in england died yesterday from drinking an entire liter of vodka in 4 seconds. 4 seconds!!

#1-ewwwww
#2-he was 29, wayy too old for those frat tricks.

"It takes only one drink to get me drunk. The trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or the fourteenth."

pretty

i love peonies.

the guv-na

the ny governor's race between andrew cuomo and carl paladino is starting to heat up, even though it just officially started 2 weeks ago. i happen to love a good political battle and paladino's uncensored, feisty attitude is so entertaining to wake up to every morning--i'm loving all the sassy sound bytes!

meanwhile, obama's got big problems. i think the saying 'the rats know when to jump off a sinking ship,' is appropriate for his current staffing issues. yikes.

mooovies

i've been blogging a lot of movies lately, but there are sooo many that look like they will be excellent. this is the trailer for 'true grit', a remake of the old movie with john wayne and directed by the coen brothers.

i loved 'no country for old men' so i'm almost positive i'll love this movie too. it comes out at christmas!

the facebook movie

100% rating on rotten tomatoes, which never happens. i've already purchased my tickets for friday night!

yayyyy facebook movie!

no more weddings?

For the first time in at least a century, the proportion of U.S. adults between 25 and 34 who have never been married last year exceeded those who are married, marking a reversal that follows years of decline in marriage rates, according to data released Tuesday by the Census Bureau. Read the full story in the WSJ

this makes total sense to me--i really don't understand the rush to get married when you're 23 or 24.

sshhh

shhdontellsteve

Steve's buddy from work called and told him if he's gonna call in sick "bad sushi" is the way to go. "Bad wings" makes you seem "budget"

backstory: this is the best thing on twitter. the feed is run by steve's roommate, without steve's knowledge and i can't get enough of it. steve recently started a banking job and called in sick yesterday due to 'bad hot wings.' it's hilarious.

hard life

sweet dixie is now spending her days outside running in the backyard and playing in the sprinklers since the weather has cooled down. she's just worn out!

this is an old picture of dixie, but i love it. she's so happy!

it's a confusing world

poor puppy, it's his first time on an escalator!
thanks for finding this party barge!!

bank

these two dudes are pretty legit: buffett happens to loveee dairy queen (so do i!) and jay-z is just the ultimate baller. both men are self-made, and that's pretty amazing. congrats on making it to the top of the $paper$ list.

agg-r-e-ss-ive

i love, love twitter but i will never get a tattoo of the twitter fail whale. geez.

pugs! pugs!

swimming pug

animals!!

the salmon in the background is genetically modified, while the salmon in the front is normal size. the fda is considering not making it mandatory to label if the fish has been modified. i'm convinced there has to be some kind of negative side effect from eating such a fake fish, right? freaky.

this is a rare picture of an albino whale, found off the coast of patagonia, argentina. i love all the black and yellow spots! very cool.

look at this frog! this is asia's smallest species of frog--it's the size of a pea! bananas.

how to use tha compooter

so, i can't display this drawing any bigger than this, but you have to check it out. i know i've felt the exact same way when watching someone try to use the computer and do it all ass-backwards and take 50 years to do a task that would take a normal person 5 seconds.

i wish i would have thought of this. gold.

gus gus

today's daily puppy, sweet baby gus the bulldog, is so cute! according to his mom, gus like to wear clothes and his favorite piece to wear is his bow tie!

i had several heart attacks over this little puppy nugget. so precious.

make a wish

i found this blog, mr. rossi, today and i loved this post.

"i love my chick"

he also blogs a ton of pics of rappers and gangsta rhymes.

We don’t fuck with you musically
"Thanks to the duffel bag, the brown paper bag
The Nike shoe box for holdin' all this cash"

and pugs! apparently the gf wants one...

She keeps tellin me she needs this

puppyyyy

i just love baby buford the basset hound so, so much. look at those droopy ears!

precious.

non-stop wedding season

when all of your friends are married, getting married, engaged, or nearly engaged, it's hard not to think about how you would host your own wedding party.

i love love love this outdoor dinner party with the bomb.com christmas lights.

*to all my friends that fall into the categories mentioned above, don't steal my idea. kthx lylas!

pizza! pizza!

i'm slowly growing out of my anti-pizza eating phase (thanks to apt 7d & mama celeste's deliciousness) and this pizza looks especially yummy. i also think it's really cute that the big pizza is made up of a bunch of little mini pizzas.

i think this is some sort of visual metaphor for living, or something.

ok go

this band, ok go, always makes the coolest, most creative music videos. i love this one in particular because of all the dogs, obvi.

you might remember them from their previous treadmill video. (they don't allow embedding for this one)

excellent find @hoop_er! good work amigo.

new yawk

using census data, NYmag put together a map of new york, color-coded by race. the pink indicates white people, green is asian, blue is black people, and orange is hispanic.

it's pretty interesting, and not shocking, that the island of manhattan is nearly solid red (aka lots of white people). the top of central park begins the mixed races portion of the city.

america online

in a recent scientific study published in Time magazine, researchers found that 30% of couples meet online. they predict that in the next several years, the internet will eclipse friends as the most common way people meet their significant others.

their research also found that the happiest couples met their partners in church.

internet dating used to be sooo uncool, now it seems like a viable option considering that you know those people online are already interested in a real relationship, though i'm not sure the target audience is the 22-29yr old demographic.

gingy time?

i love love alexis bledel's hair color. not too gingy, not too brown. maybe one day i'll be courageous enough to give up the blonde and try this out.

i think it's her paleness that's the encouraging factor. everyone knows i was not blessed with the 'tan' look.

dude insight

MSN put up a list of the top 8 things guys notice about da ladies:

1. How Thick Your Hair Is
This is all about evolution. Since caveman days, dudes have been drawn to lush locks, which signal that a woman is healthy (translation:shaggable).
2. If Your Smile Is Genuine
Sometimes your eyes crinkle a bit when you grin. Most men are good at distinguishing the vibe of this kind of smile, which says you're relaxed and fun.
3. The Size of Your Group
You don't want a big bunch (it'll be hard for him to approach) or just one friend (he'll figure you wouldn't desert her to talk to him). The perfect crew size? Three. Your two buds can keep each other company when you slip away.
4. The Pitch of Your Voice
Studies show that men are drawn to voices in a slightly higher register (think Kristin Bell's), probably because — yep, evolution — they're reliable signs of youth and reproductive health.
5. Your Hip-to-Waist Ratio
Yet again, blame eons of human history. Men instinctually look for baby mamas. If your waist is noticeably smaller than your hips, it signifies fertility — a huge point in your favor. A wide belt will emphasize that hourglass shape.
6. Your Glowiness
Guys associate a radiant complexion with good mental health. That's because stress and anxiety usually cause breakouts and dull skin. So those lotions and bronzers you sweep over your cheeks? Totally worth it.
7. What's Fake About You
Not personality-fake, but artificial-accoutrement-fake: lashes, hair extensions, etc. To guys, these things shout high-maintenance! Not good.
8. Your Eyes
People focus on eyes more than they do on any other body part. And dramatic eye makeup will have him zeroing in on your peepers even more.
looks like i've got #1, #4 and #5 covered. not sure those are the three i would have selected for myself, but whatevs.

pauly d

this video shows what pauly d from 'jersey shore' would look like with his hair down.

he's actually pretty handsome!

lover of the light

this mumford & sons song, lover of the light, has been my jam recently. i just love everything about it. especially the lyrics.

And in the middle of the night, I may watch you go
There'll be no value in the strength of walls that I have grown
There'll be no comfort in the shade of the shadows thrown
You may not trust the promises of the change I'll show
But I'll be yours if you'll be mine

love it.

old school fbook

this is what it would have been like if fbook was around in the old days:

i'm sure this is old news to everyone, but whatevs, they're still pretty fun. i think God's fbook is my favorite.

gbowr

the guinness book of world records released a few pictures of the 2011 winners, out of the 12 released pictures, the two below are my faves.

this guy made it into the book for having the largest balloon airplane.

#1 why would you make this out of ballons?
#2 how long does it take for something to pop the balloons--it's sitting on prickly grass!

this little cow made it into the book for being the smallest cow in the world. she's only 33" tall!

how precious!!

baby B

this is my bff megan's new baby, blakely. she's such a pretty baby and i've been begging for meg to put a bow on her for weeks! today she styled B in a bow that gingy seags bought for her and look how absolutely precious she is!!

lookin' good B!

so dark and stormy

i found this random/amazing picture of this afternoon's storm on twitter today. it was so thunderous!
it's unfortunate that this occurred during the work day, i would have loved to have been in my bed instead! maybe it will rain tonight....

cool job

i think i would love to have norman's job. he works in the test kitchen at southern living and gets to record videos on how to make the recipes on their website. i guess it would be pretty similar to having a food network tv show, which i would totally loveeee.

here is a little sample of norman showing you how to make some chicken enchilada noms.

what a crazy person

i can not believe this. the lady above claimed that someone came up to her and threw a cup of acid in her face, causing pretty deep skin injuries that required reconstructive surgery.

well, today the crazy ass admitted to the police that the attack didn't happen and that she threw the acid on her face instead. whyyyy would you ever ruin your face?

i'm guessing that after she's released from the medical hospital, she gets a 'do not pass go' ticket straight to the mental institution. for real.

almost legal

my new driver's license has finally arrived...in texas. while the new design isn't as cute as the old, i can't wait to start carrying this around town instead of my super girly, really bulky passport.

yay!!

'you are dumb, fo real!'

antione is too amazing for words.

glee sucks

i am not a fan of glee, and i can't believe jay-z allowed them to cover this song.

show choir sucks.

i need these...

it's almost fall, which means it's almost tights and boots weather. these over-the-knee boots are sooo cute!

since i shop off the mannequins, it helps that i already own the dress she's wearing.

i need these boots. asap.

the town

i'm so unbelievably excited to see this movie friday night. it's received excellent reviews thus far and features a top tier cast, including the super-hunky jon hamm.

bomb.com

more foosball

duke is playing alabama this weekend. that's right, duke is playing the #1 ranked team and fortunately for the blue devils, heisman winner mark ingram will make his debut on saturday as well.

something tells me duke won't leave this game with the same enthusiasm they have in the picture above.

i think it's a little rude of alabama, ou doesn't even embarrass/completely dismantle almost-ivy-league teams. you can watch this disaster saturday afternoon on abc.

go blue devils!

there's only one...

finally, football season is here again. after barely squeaking out a win last week, oklahoma swiftly dominated florida state this afternoon--by a lot.

my favorite part of the ou game is the intro video, hands-down. i get so excited and happy that it usually brings goosebumps and tears. below is the first video in a series of three.

boomer sooner.

walk it out

a new study found that the death rate was 2.87 times higher for the slowest walkers than for the fastest walkers. it looks like jenny the pug is working on increasing her speed! cute!

kiss kiss kiss

what does your lip print say about you?

apparently, i am an oval/round shape which means:
"that the person likes things to go smoothly. They do not like conflict. They do not like to argue. They like everybody to be happy."

i think that sums things up for me, the only thing that's missing is the fondness of cute animals and laffy taffy jokes.

the question...

this is an excerpt of one couple's story of how they met and their engagement. both are comic strip artists and i think this is such a precious way to remember the proposal!

*i like the detail about raina (the gf) getting sweaty palms when she's nervous--i can totally relate! i'm a complete nervous nelly.

photo booth pug

how precious are these photo booth puggy pics? this dog looks exactly like my sweet, sweet dixie.
