true crime

i haven't posted any of my hometown's crime reports in a while, these are some of the gems i found from that past few weeks. solid gold.

200 block of School House Road
 – A woman reported a terroristic threat. She said that a man she knows drove into her driveway, pointed at her and then left.

600 block of Indian Trail – A woman called 911 and reported a case of domestic violence after she heard horrible screams coming from a neighbor’s house. Deputies arrived to find a man yelling at his television. He was watching the Dallas Cowboys game.

100 block of Private Road 4686 – A woman reported that her daughter’s “baby daddy” was harassing her by telephone.

400 block of County Road 4581 – A man found people on his property armed with raw eggs.

A-Plus RV Park – A woman reported that her boyfriend assaulted her because she threw his false teeth down a sewer pipe.

100 block of County Road 4693 – A woman’s neighbors were watching her do yard work.

i would love to have a dinner party, wedding reception, or completely normal weekday meal at this table.

sweetness

this picture was taken during the groundbreaking ceremony for the new g.w. bush library on the smu campus. in this moment, the speaker was discussing bush's response to the 9/11 attacks.

i have always thought that little touches between a couple, like the one above, are so incredibly sweet and reassuring and thoughtful. this is just the most precious picture ever.

love love.

we're going to disney world!!

these kids are not at all impressed about their upcoming surprise trip to disney world. hilarious!

beautimous subway

this is the old city hall stop on the 6 train that is no longer in use. it's perfectly preserved and if you keep riding the 6 past the brooklyn bridge stop (where they normally kick you off) the train will loop around to the uptown platform, passing through this beautiful stop.

so pretty! i have to thank the ginger for finding this gem!

the next book to-do

even though i'm a few years late to this party, Devil in the White City is definitely going to be my next read. the author, a former Wall Street Journal reporter, was nominated for a National Book Award after its release in 2003.

summary: "Bringing Chicago circa 1893 to vivid life, "The Devil In the White City" intertwines the true tale of two men - Daniel H. Burnham, the brilliant architect behind the legendary 1893 World's Fair, striving to secure America's place in the world; and Dr. H.H. Holmes, the cunning serial killer who used the fair to lure his victims to their death in his elaborately constructed "Murder Castle.""

i also just read that leonardo dicaprio is going to play the serial killer in the movie, planned for release late next year. from entertainment weekly, "DiCaprio will play Herman Webster Mudgett, alias H. H. Holmes, a serial killer who confessed to murdering 27 people — and may have killed as many as 200 — during the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair"
